A QUICK GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE LAWS IN GEORGIA

“Do I have to pay my deductible?” is one of the most common questions our Project Managers receive from homeowners once they decide to work with Peachtree Restorations and file an insurance claim.

Peachtree Restorations always takes a transparent and honest approach to working with our homeowners, and when asked this question, we continue to uphold that philosophy.

In August of 2018, the Georgia Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner issued a bulletin to all Public Adjusters, Roofing Contractors, and Homeowners referencing waiving or rebating Homeowners’ Insurance Deductibles.

No matter what you hear or what a different roofing company may have told you, you must pay your deductible from your roof replacement once your claim is approved. Not only is a roofing company paying your deductible illegal, but they are aiding you in committing insurance fraud by waiving your deductible for you.

While saving money is important, the consequences of not paying your deductible are serious. Committing fraud is not worth the short-term savings. By working with a reputable, financially strong company, you can save more money in the long run and have peace of mind knowing you've made legally safe decisions that won't result in a loss of coverage or a fraudulent claim.
